100th video: and all started here.

The year was 1986 and I was 12 years old. This was my first flight, from Porto Alegre (SBPA) to São Paulo-Congonhas (SBSP), on a VASP 727.

That's how the "aerococcus" entered into my bloodstream.

And from that day I never looked at the sky the same way.

Flying the past - VARIG MD-11 at Kai Tak

In her heyday, VARIG had two flights that connected Brazil to Asia.  One, from Sao Paulo, passing by Los Angeles and then to Japan. The other flight left Rio de Janeiro and made stopovers in Sao Paulo, Johannesburg and Bangkok, to finally land on Hog Kong. (Source: http://airwaysnews.com/galleries/6959.jpg)

From 1994 to 1998 this flight to Hong Kong was made using the MD-11.

So this is VARIG Flight 8384, departing from the old Don Mueang International Airport (VTBD) in Bangkok and landing at the old and always challenging Kai Tak Airport (VHHX), in Hong Kong.

Sunwing - from Canada to Cuba

First of all, let's do some clarification:

1. Again, Radar Contact 4 hasn't Sunwing in its database. So, I found a "phonetically similar" callsing: Suckling. Yes, it exists, and further information can be obtained here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suckling_Airways
And yes, I know this leaves a margin for comments like "Suckling?? Oh, come on, it sucks!" ;-)

2. This is not the real time of the flight SWG 652 I took the liberty to change it in order to have a sunrise in my video. I believe it was worth it.So, this is Sunwing, flight SWG 652, from Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (CYUL) to Juan Gualberto Gómez Airport - Varadero Airport (MUVR).

Oshkosh here I go.

Two airplanes in this video: starting with A2A Piper Cherokee and finishing with Alabeo Extra 300.

For the first time in FSX I did aerobatics with wake turbulence of my own aircraft. Weird...

Well, that's it. Flight from Chicago-Midway to Oshkosh with Piper, and ending with a "high-G" flight on Extra 300.

Wake Turbulence II - 100% strength

After making the first video about wake turbulence, I realized that strength was at 50%.

So, here is the video with 100% strength. This time I used the RealAir Duke B60 V2 and the PMDG 737-600 NGX, at SBGR.

Take your own conclusions.

Wake Turbulence - Active Sky Next

Another great feature of ASN is Wake Turbulence. Flying behind and too close from a bigger plane make things shaking.

This is from ASN Manual:

"We have further increased the realism of Wake Turbulence simulation with Active Sky Next. Realistic wind movement, improved decay, more accurate strength calculations and improved encounter effects are just a few things that have been added.

For those not knowledgeable about wake turbulence, we highly recommend researching this common aviation danger. In summary, wake turbulence is a trail of disturbed, rotating air left by any airplane that is generating lift.

The larger the aircraft, and the more lift it is creating (i.e. slower, in landing configuration), the stronger the size and rotational velocity
of the wake. When another aircraft encounters wake turbulence, the effect can be gentle, if for example entering wake from an aircraft of similar size, or the effect can be very intense, causing temporary loss of control. The larger the difference in aircraft size between the generating and receiving aircraft, the larger the wake effect.

Realistic Takeoff and Landing operations always require the awareness of potential wake turbulence and associated actions needed to avoid wake encounters. For example, landing aircraft on parallel runways should always land PAST the touchdown point of a larger aircraft that has recently landed. Failing to avoid wake can result in tragedy, as it has unfortunately happened numerous times in real life.

We highly recommend performing such realistic takeoff and landing operations and being aware of wake turbulence at all times. To aid in the identification of wake, we have provided a graphic representation of wake trails within the "Other Aircraft" Map overlay."

In this video I used the A2A Cessna 172 and A2A Piper Cherokee. Note that when I was flying de Piper, an aircraft landed on a runway perpendicular to my flying pattern. When I crossed that runway, I encountered wake turbulence.

Please disregard the RAAS warnings. I should have run MakeRwys.exe after having enabled the scenery, which I did not.

World Cup Tour - Avianca from Brasília to Salvador/Bahia

First of all, let me tell you something. Since YT integrated with the Google+, some comments are not being answered. This is due to the fact that they are "linked comment", and YT does not allow me to respond.

It's an annoying situation, and still gives the impression that I'm not caring with the comments of you, which is not true.

Thinking about it, I created this blog.

The reviews here are open, so if anyone wants to ask me something, you can also do it there, and I will answer with pleasure.

So, let's go to the video.

This is Avianca flight 66320, from Brasília (SBBR) to Salvador (SBSV), another host city of World Cup.

In this flight I used Active Sky Next, and the next flights will be with it.

World Cup Tour - SBGR to SBPA

First of all, let me thank you guys, because I reached one million views. It seems unbelievable!! I know many have millions of views in just one video, but this mark is very important to me.

When I started posting videos here, I never imagined it would have such an effect. This channel was to be an escape from work, a place to express the passion for aviation/simulation.

And then the videos were appearing, just like you. Every video I post here is planning on showing a more "artistic" side of the simulation. Not only the cockpit view, but also those places where we would like to leave a camera turned on.

Of course you can not please everyone, but try for it always exists. So, my thanks to you who are the reason these videos exist.

Due to commitments, the video would I do with Sunwing was postponed. It will happen after the World Cup. For now, I will make several flights between the host cities of the World Cup.

Testing Active Sky Next

Bad weather occurring around SBPA. A good opportunity to test ASN.

Before you ask me, no, I did not give much attention to procedures. All I wanted was to know how the aircraft would behave in that weather.

Weights, CG, fuel, speed and other setups were done correctly and taking into account the ATIS of SBPA.

It's only 5:44, from take off until reach better weather.

Piper Cherokee

A quick flight to test this beauty.

Flying the Heavies - The end of an era.

This aircraft is, in my opinion, one of the best ever made for FSX.  But time takes its price.

With the release of PMDG's 777 sp1 approaching (I hope so), perhaps the simulation mimics real life, and the 777 takes the place of the MD11.

If the 777 becomes all that is expected of it, and with the addition of FS2Crew, maybe it reign sovereign in the long range flights of FSX.

Next flight will be a Sunwing NGX flight, and then I will do some flights between the host cities of World Cup here in Brazil.

After the World Cup I hope I already have the 777, and the FS2Crew (button control). I hope, but who knows...

But when I have it, the flights will appear here.

So this is a fictional flight from KSEA to KMHV.

The plane was empty, with only two containers to adjust the CG, and with only 27t of fuel.

Needless to say it took off like a rocket. Was frightening!!

This is the MD-11F flight to Mojave Graveyard, like many others in real life.

Perhaps the last one, maybe just a rest.

It's not a "goodbye", it's a "see you soon".

Active Sky Next - thunderstorm

Short test, over SBPA, on a stormy night.

Flying the Heavies - Yes, it's a panda!

On this flight, I made a change: Opus Weather for Active Sky Next (yes, I'm thinking on PMDG 777 and its weather radar). I felt the weather more "nervous" with ASN.

Just before starting the descent, my route took me to a "wall of clouds." I didn't ask to change the route because I wanted to see what the ASN could offer me in terms of weather. WOW, you will see and hear what I found inside!!

Drukair - it's Paro time!!

When I saw this video:

and this video:

I thought: "I need to do this!"

So here it is: Drukair, flight KB 401, from Kathmandu to Paro, Bhutan.

Paro Airport (IATA: PBH, ICAO: VQPR) is the only international airport of Bhutan. The airport is located 6 km (3.7 mi) from Paro in a deep valley on the bank of the river Paro Chhu at an elevation of 7,300 ft (2,200 m).

With surrounding peaks as high as 18,000 ft (5,500 m) it is considered one of the world's most challenging airports, and as of October 2009, only eight pilots in the world are certified to land at the airport. Flights at Paro are allowed under visual meteorological conditions only and are restricted to daylight hours from sunrise to sunset. (from Wiki)

Airbus X IndiGo - Let's go to India.

Some considerations about the flight:

1. IndiGo's callsign is "Ifly". RC4 unfortunately has no such airline in its database. Then I found an airline whose callsing is "Indigo". So in this flight IndiGo will be called "Indigo".

2. For some reason I still don't know, RC4 went crazy at the end of the flight. Although I was already in contact with the approach, he always sent me to contact him. Conclusion: I had to simulate a crack in the windshield so I could get permission to go down.

3. The approach and landing was made entirely by instruments due to dense fog in the short final. Nevertheless, the landing was made long before the TDZ. I'll repeat the approach and landing with another aircraft and other weather conditions to see why the ILS directed me incorrectly.

That said, let's get down to business.

nVidia ShadowPlay test in FSX

ATTENTION:

For those who are not able to record in full screen, the secret is:

at nVidia Inspector, the Antialiasing setting must be 16x. At 8x or 4x, you will have a letter box video (4:3).

Very short clip to test some settings of nVidia GTX 650 Ti Boost and the ShadowPlay.

Approach and landing at Narita (RJAA) with 737-900 NGX. Sliders almost full in FSX, and 33% of traffic.

SAS - the "Planes plane"

First of all, let's talk about the weather. No, not the FSX weather, but the real weather. Some folks are asking me why the delay of new videos.

Allow me to explain: we are facing here, in south of Brazil, the worst summer in 70 years. During day, temperatures exceed 40°C (104°F) with termical sensation of almost 50°C (122°F). During the night, the temperature doesn't go below 34°C (93°F).

Yesterday (Saturday), finally turned to rain after several weeks. The temperature dropped, and I took it to fly. But today the heat came roaring back.

There is no air conditioner that resolves. Some meteorological institutes say that this week the temperatures return to normal for our summer. Others say it will continue until March. So, new flights will depend of the weather, the real one.

Well, let's talk about this flight:

this is SAS, Flight 819, from Dusseldorf to Oslo, flown by this aircraft in real world, like in January, 17th, for example. I only changed the flight from night to daytime.

Norwegian 737-800 NGX to the "Top of the World"

NAX 396 - Norwegian Air Shuttle 737-800WL

Oslo to Svalbard

This is a "FSX version" of this video:

Svalbard is an archipelago in the Arctic Ocean, constituting the northernmost part of Norway. Located north of mainland Europe, it is about midway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. The group of islands range from 74° to 81° north latitude, and from 10° to 35° east longitude.

The airport is located in Longyearbyen, wich is the administrative center too. It is considered, if not further north, one of the most northerly commercial airports in the world.
