Flying the past - VARIG MD-11 at Kai Tak
In her heyday, VARIG had two flights that connected Brazil to Asia. One, from Sao Paulo, passing by Los Angeles and then to Japan. The other flight left Rio de Janeiro and made stopovers in Sao Paulo, Johannesburg and Bangkok, to finally land on Hog Kong. (Source: http://airwaysnews.com/galleries/6959.jpg)
From 1994 to 1998 this flight to Hong Kong was made using the MD-11.
So this is VARIG Flight 8384, departing from the old Don Mueang International Airport (VTBD) in Bangkok and landing at the old and always challenging Kai Tak Airport (VHHX), in Hong Kong.
